Sam Babenia is a British Lyricist working in the neo-classical, pop and musical theatre genres, with Platinum and numerous Gold RIAA certifications.

Sam’s works include the lyrics for the title track ‘Dream a Dream’, recorded by Charlotte Church with Platinum sales of 1,630,000 copies in the U.S alone. ‘Dream a Dream’ was then additionally featured on Charlotte’s ‘Prelude’ album. A cover of the track by Takagaki Aya, featured on her ‘Melodia 2’ album in Japan.
Following the success of this, Sony BMG commissioned Sam to write the lyrics to Erik Satie’s ‘Gymnopodie No 1’ which was to become ‘From My First Moment’ featuring on Charlotte’s ‘Enchantment’ album. ‘From My First Moment’ was again recorded and released, this time by the jazz artist Nancy Harms in the U.S, on her ‘Dream In Apartments’ album.
Sam co-wrote the song ‘In My Skin’ for ‘Aurora,’ which appeared on their pop debut top-ten chart album.
Other highlights include ‘Siempre Adorarla’ for the Sony album ‘Duetto’ by Marcelo Alvarez and Salvatore Licitra and ‘Suspiro Por Ti’, which later featured on the Jon Christos ‘Northern Lights’ album.
Italian Composer Francesco Sartori (Time To Say Goodbye) asked Sam to write the English lyric for the song ‘Oltre La Tempesta’, performed again by Alvarez and Licitra, which became ‘Beyond The Storm’.
Sam wrote the lyrics for ‘Prayer In The Night’, which he also co-produced in London for ‘Amici Forever’ an opera band of four classically trained singers who mixed pop with opera. ‘Prayer In The Night’ has been re-recorded and released by numerous artists since, including the tenor Jonathan Ansell on his ‘Tenor At The Movies’ album.
In 2016 Sam was invited to co write the songs for a new musical, ‘The Navigator,’ set during WW2. At present, he is re-developing his original book for ‘TAJ’ the story of the inconsolable emperor, which was originally commissioned as an arena musical with the Belgian musical production company; The Music Hall Group. British Composer/Conductor James Shearman wrote the music with additional music and the lyrics by Sam Babenia.
Sam is also currently set join the creative team behind a newly written, historically based, stage musical which previewed in London in 2017.
